I was hired by Bass Pro about 1 month ago to be the full time operator/receptionist for their new store in Chicago suburbs. I quit another job at a major retailer to take this job and they knew it. I was getting paid a better hourly wage, but left to get on board with a new venture with lots of opportunities. Since I am new, I have had some questions about what the job entails and have told my supervisor. I have had discussions with her twice so far - nothing major, just looking for a little direction and I told her that. Now, I am being pushed to work as a cashier at the store - a job I never would have accepted in the first place. This is not because I did a bad job, but rather because they have a pregnant woman hired as a cashier who came in recently with a note from her doctor saying she can only work in limited situations and should not be on her feet. What can I do???? She is getting my job and I am supposed to do hers. What can I do????
Maybe get pregnant too!
Best would be to check your contract and see if it specifies what you have to do to keep your end of the bargain and what they have to keep up towards you. If they can put you to work as a cashier and get away with it, make sure that it is only temporary for as long as the pregnant woman can't do anything else. Another option would be to see if there are in-house transfers that accommodate your skills better than filling in as a cashier.
Best of luck, and hope this helps. |
