Should I switch jobs? I work now as a secretary and am thinking of becoming a waitress - read the reasons....? |
I now work for a school district as a secretary for (after taxes) 11$ an hour. No benefits. I work 9 hours a day and come home with approx. $88. Im thinking of changing to a waitress for a popular restaurant out here that 3 of my friends work at. They pull in about $150 on a slow 6 hour shift. If i work at night, I can finish my degree in the daytime (halfway done). Im worried about not really being able to see my boyfriend though. We live together but if I work nights (He works 9 to 5 job) I will only se him a couple nights a week. Im stuck trying to decide to change jobs or not! Oh and if it helps at all - i ****ing hate being a secretary. Well looking at the main goal (getting your degree) if you can speed that up isn't that most important? By taking this new job you can make more money, finish your degree and then not worry about either of the jobs b/c you will moving on to better things. Your boyfriend will understand, what you do is make those nights where you two can be together more special. Plan things together and spend that time more preciously. It will definitely make things different but absence does make the heart grow fonder. If he is a support and loyal b/f he will want you to do whatever makes you happy and seeing that you hate being a secretary I would say make the switch get your degree done quicker will do that both in the short term and longer term. Faster you get it done the faster you can move on to bigger and better things....together. |
