Are recruiters basically sales people? |
seems to me the few I have dealt with lie like sales people just to get you in the door to interview. But discard you once they know you are a no go. Typical sales. Depends - if you're talking about in-house recruiters at various companies, then no. But if you're talking about consultants who work for agencies, then yes, recruitment to those people is a form of sales. They have to sell the candidate to the employer, and sometimes they have to sell the jobs to the candidates. They also have targets to meet in the same way that a salesperson would, and their paycheck is largely commission-based. If you feel like you've been discarded because you're a "no go" then I suggest you ask for feedback and find out why. If you've been unsuccessful for a position - well, **** happens - maybe they had a couple of very strong candidates and they could only hire one. But, any agency should recognise that you happened to be unlucky that time, but still put you forwards for other jobs in the hope that it's going to be your turn next time. So if you've already interviewed for one or two positions and the agency no longer wants to have anything to do with you, you better find out why to see if it's something that you can do something about. |
