Help Needed Concerning Job Situation?

I left a steady position and a good wage and benefits to take a job that was represented to me as an ongoing, full-time position with great pay and benefits. When I was hired I was told I was going to be a "Marketing Manager" and then my job title was changed to "Marketing Coordinator." Then, yesterday, the boss calls me to his office and tells me that my position has been re-evaluated and they have decided there is not enough work to warrant a full-time position. I was given two options: take a part-time position, same pay, no benefits (and half the hours!) or take a $2000 severance. I have chosen to take the severance, but I now have several people telling me that I should sue for misrepresentation and lost wages. Advice?

Unless you had a contract, there's no basis for a suit. Remind these amateur lawyers about "Employment at Will".
