Everyone hates my boss, how do i help him as his assistant?

how should i tell him how people feel about him and suggest changes?

Oh My Gosh... Keep your mouth shut! I am sorry to be so blunt, but I made this very mistake and the boss was very appreciative at first. Then all of a sudden he turned on me. Sometimes people just do not want to hear the truth or refuse to face the truth about themselves. Keep doing your work. As long as you get along with him that is all that matters. If your co-workers have anything negative to say about him let them do it themselves. Do not be the speaking voice for others. Trust me on this please. Redvelve is right on target. Believe me!

Just do your job. If he can depend on you to do your job, you're helping him enough!
you cant get him to change.
first you need to represent him to others the way you want him to be seen. pretty soon they may see him that way and maybe he will notice a difference and behave differently also.
It depends on the type of relationship you have with him. If you are close to him and feel that you both can talk, then have a closed door talk and let him know that there are concerns that you have regarding his treatment of others and how he is coming across. If your not on this type of communique, then I would try to test the water to see how he would react to my telling him things because a lot of the time they can;t tell how they are being portrayed because they are so stressed or they are not empathetic to the type of people who work with him. So you have to tread lightly and test the waters to see where you stand with him and how he receives from you before you can tell him anything. Most of all remember the truth hurts and a lot of people are not ready for truth.
Do not tell him how others feel. It could backfire on you and then he would blame you for telling him.

You need to be an interpreter/liaison between him and the people, a person who softens his rough edges. You do that by offering to take his orders to his people and by subtly help his communications.

For example if he needs to write a strong memo that directs someone to do something, you take that memo and add the 'please', 'thank you', and 'appreciate your cooperation on this matter". Whenever you speak for him or about him you do it in a positive manner. Soon he will find you indispensable and the rest of the workers will probably soften their opinion of him.
NEVER tell your boss anything negative that people say behind his back. NEVER. If you want to butter him up you might tell him the positive things if he's into that.

If you like e-mail me. Why do people hate him? There must be reasons. I can't believe that people hate him for no reason.
