When should i take my vacation...when my boss is out or in the office?

my boss is leaving for 2 weeks in july, should i go when he's out or when he comes back? I would rather go during one of the weeks that he's out but not sure how to approach this to him as he might prefer I'm there when he gets back to catch up. I"m his assistant. Thanks to all.

always go on vacation when the boss is in, then come back when they leave so you don't have to deal with them or see them for a few weeks
i would leave when hes gone because then you will have more time without him!!!
when he's in
you can have hols-when he says so.
Just ask - but he probably needs you to cover.
Wow, if you're his assistant, I would think you should stay when he is out. U need to be able to take care of his business while he is gone. Senority get to take the days off over the person below them.
I would ask him before you make any travel plans, airlines, etc. He may have a preference.
