Should you send a thank you note when you receive a bonus check at work?

Should you send a thank you note when you receive a bonus check at work?

No, you earned it

"show" your Thanks by continuing to do a good job
Yes. It pays to be polite and appreciative , even if it was for your outstanding work.
No- I assume everyone else got one too. Its the same as a paycheck. Continue to work hard and earn another one.
Yes! There is no such thing as oversending of thank you notes, particularly in today's world where the practice has become very rare. Listen, I'm in sales, I make it a practice to send brief hand-written thank you notes to everyone I can. Clients, potential clients, clients who for whatever reason have no chance of ever buying from me, because they may have friends who will. I send thank you notes to people who help me in everyday transactions. Thank you notes will make you stand out as an observant appreciative professional. Send a thank you note to the bank teller who took extra time to help with your problem, send thank you notes to the restaurant that gave excellent service. The friend who picked up a check.

Seriously, 10-15 minutes a day sending a few thank you notes will pay tremendous rewards in your life. I've gotton a tremendous amount of referals and rewards from simple thank you notes. People love to be appreciated and noticed when they do something good, notice them. Make a habit of keeping an eye out for people to be thankful too and thank them, you will be amazed at the returns you get.
I can assume that this is your first bonus check. You SHOULD send a Thank You note and express the satisfaction that your outstanding work has been valued and payed appropriately and that the bonus does stimulates/motivates you to work even harder.
BUT SAY THANK YOU ONLY THIS TIME.
A verbal thank you should be enough. A thank you note reeks of groveling/butt kissing.
I would only verbally thank my super. A thank you note is a bit over the top. Just say "thanks I really appreciate this" or something to that effect. Just keep doing what you're doing, that's why they gave you the bonus to begin with! If you were doing a not-so-hot job, they wouldn't have given you a bonus. But apparently you're doing great! Just keep up with the good work and you'll probably get more bonuses in the future!
