My boss said Im more a yes-man type than a leader, take charge type, but he has put me in a leader spot? |
i know I am not being set up to fail, I was chosen out of 150 along with 5 otherse to help with this departmental transition to a new much larger facility, is he saying he thinks he made a mistake chosing me? Maybe. But your boss does need someone who will see that his orders are carried out and his policies are followed. This "passive" style of leadership is just as important as the "John Wayne" style. Sure, the "follow me' type gets the headlines, but the "let's just get it done so no one bothers us" is just as important. Relax! You'll be fine. Your Boss could just be seeing how you will handle the new role. If you know with out a doubt your not being set up maybe you have a deeper knowledge than the others do and are being given this chance to see what you can do with it. If you and your boss get along well enough then maybe there testing the waters to see if you have more potential in you. I think he is training you. He is pointing out your weaknesses. Ask him specifically for examples on how he would have handled a situation differently. Keep it in mind the next time a similar situation comes up. Contrary to popular opinion, leading is not as easy as it looks. u shud not underestimate urself. u should take the things in right earnest |
