Do you ever feel like your co-workers are watching your every move? |
Do you ever feel like your co-workers are watching your every move? i totally feel like i'm a show on tv that they are watching. Ya, I have a co-worker like that. She sits in front of me and does a completely different job then complains that I'm not doing my job right or that her job is so much harder (I've done her job). Then, if my work is done, I'm allowed to wait until more work comes in (max 15 minutes then I have to officially declare a break) so when I just sit there she goes "Well it must be nice to have such a good life that you don't even need to work hard enough to keep your job" or something of that sort. And whoever sits beside her she bullies into doing it too (I call them Vivianne's Gang because it's always someone diferent and they only ever complain when they're sitting beside her, never when they're alone). Anyways, I talked to some other co-workers and they said that her and her gang only do this to English people and I should just ignore it (PS, this is Montreal so everyone except for 3 people are French) Yes. at a place I used to work, the co-workers (most of them got various personal calls all day, and have lengthy conversations about stuff that could wait until they got home) were very concerned if I seemed to even have five minutes of free time. If I just walked away from my desk and to the kitchen to get a drink, they would ask loudly, so the boss could hear, if I "needed something to do" then would say "well, you were walking around, doing nothing, so..." even thought I had plenty to do, I was just thirsty. If I got one personal call a week (to their many a day) they would loudly say "you're supposed to be working!" They seemed very concerned with every move I made, down to how many times I used the ladies room. Yes, they are observing you try to be discreet or prudent with your words or actions. Yes...a couple of them do. They are always looking for something they can pin on me later. I just ignore them and well, if they are too busy watching what I am doing, they can't possibly be doing their own jobs well! As a supervisor one needs to walk the talk and set examples. Co-workers look up to you as their mentor. Always, eventually they'll move on to someone else. They're everywhere....those type of people are those that have the most insecurities and typically have enough faults of their own and like to refocus to someone else to get the heat off of themselves. Eventually it catches up to them though, and you'll come out smelling like a rose. |
