What's the longest that it took some of you to find a new job? |
I quit my job a couple of months ago and been having a hard time finding a new one. Everyone says that I should have waited until I found a new one before I quit , but the conditions were becoming unbearable. Did any of you use any unconventional methods to find a job? The longest it took me was two months of everyday searching and sending out my resumes. I stopped bothering with Employement Agencies because half the time they do not have the job they advertise for. I used the large newspaper classifieds and my local classifieds. I had some really crazy interviews and some really insulting offers but after two months I found the perfect job and that job just came in time because I was really feeling down about myself finding what I wanted in salary and benefits. Chin up. Make sure you keep your eyes and ears open. Read the newspapers. Many of them have online classifieds. Always check where you are sending your resume and do not include any information that is too personal. I had some resumes also printed out so that I could stop by my local businesses and drop one off. Sometimes you can grab a job before it even goes in the papers like that. A friend of mine found her job that way. Good luck! called all my friends for a favor, asking them to give my resume to their employer/ human resources eventually i got lucky. int he mean time of doing that i aslso sought out employment agencies/head hunters and asked them to recruit me for a position. keep pounding the pavement ur sure to secure something soon! Two and a half years. I applied to over 400 jobs. I had unbearable conditions too, but I waited as I need to have that paycheck. Make sure your resume is good. Try temping if you have skills that agencies usually place. |
