Does anyone work in admin, in the UK? |
what is the pay like? what qualifications and experience did you have or need? do you like the job? I worked admin in the UK for years before coming home to NZ. The pay ranged from 6 pounds and hour to 10 pounds an hour depending which city/town i was working in. You need good skills in Word and Excel and reasonable typing speed. Admin is such a broad role it would depend on which area you were in as to how much experience you would need and what other qualifications. Good luck, I hope you find something you enjoy. I loved it and have ended up doing Admin here now as well.... Yea, lots of people do! No seriously, I do. I do a job share with another girl and we do the whole admin for one branch of a small company. It's very difficult to tell you what the pay is like as it depends so much on which area you live and work in and what particular job in admin you do. I am paid extremely well but this is unusual in the area I live and just reflects the fact that our head office is in a different (usually better paid) area and I get the same as their admin staff. I like the job I do and have worked in office jobs most of my working life (now in my early 50's) but I will say that admin is not the work I would choose to do if I were starting out again. I would choose something I REALLY LOVED to do, such as something creative. Admin jobs can be very repetitive so enjoyment of the work can depend a lot on the people you work with and the company you work for - do they value their staff? do you get praise for a job well done? do they like you to use your initiative? are they up for your personal development? etc. Good luck with your choices! My own experiences. |
