Am I supposed to make a cover letter?

I'm emailing a staffing firm to apply for a job that they are recruiting for. What would I say in a cover letter?

you name address phone number and the person to witch you would like your app to go to. you can also search cover letters on the net and get one that's premade all you have to do is punch you info in.
Hi there.... When you email your details over treat the body of your email as the cover letter (if that makes sense). Make it a summary of you and explain what sort of job your looking for (if its an agency).

Good Luck!
You need to make yourself stand out, compared to the other applicants. Talk about why you want to work in that specific field, why you chose that company, what makes you better than everyone else (meaning you talk about what you are good at and what you excel at). Keep it basic but make it good. You need to make an amazing impression on them. They need to remeber after reading 50 resumes, "Oh.. remeber that one person who talked about this and that".... Just make sure you stand out... mention you are good at working alone and in a group.. you work well under pressure... take any task that comes your way.. Make them WANT to hire you :)
Yes! and they are not hard to do.. first.. your name, address, and contact information in the top left then go down a couple lines and put Dear...........(or if you don't know the specific name but To whomever it may concern) then go down another line and tab over.... you will need three small paragraphs(3 to 4 sentences each) The first should tell them the specific job that you are applying for including reference numbers and where you saw the job. the second should tell them very briefly what skills you have that are relevent to the job, and the third should conclude by offering what times you are available for an interview, thank them for looking at your resume and put your phone number in again.... I appreciate your taking the time to consider my resume and I am available at short notice for an interview or to answer questions. You can contact me between 00hrs and 00hrs at 999-999-9999. Or just go to monster.com and let them help!!
You鈥檝e got five or six sentences. In those sentences, you need to say hello, mention an interesting thing or two about yourself, and close gracefully
The cover letter sums up your experience, gives you a place to let them know a little about you and gives them a quick insight as to whether they want to go further.
Link below gives you the information you need in each of the three paragraphs that your cover letter should have. The second link is an actual sample cover letter.
