Here's the deal. I live and work for a big company in Chicago. I love the company I work for and I don't want to leave but I have to move out of state to care for my grandmother. I work as a receptionist right not but I am not going to be able to do that from home. I am hoping to switch to an Administrative positions remotely. They have at lease 10 people that work remotely, none of which are Admin. The company is expanding and they have even created a new position that I believe I could be of assistance with. I just want to know what to say to my boss to really sell her on it. There is a ton of work that I do here that can be done from a PC at home. I would be the first to propose it though. This move is unexpected and happening soon. Please help.
Keep your focus on how it will benefit the company to keep you as a remote worker rather than lose you and have to train another employee. Try not to mention your grandmother more than once. Perhaps suggesting a trial period would help. Be honest. Tell them about your personal circumstances. Point out all the qualifications you have that you can bring to this position. Many times positions go remote to give people assistance at home. It sounds like you are a valued employee so they should be open to your proposal.
