When a company gives paychecks bi-weekly how does the first paycheck go?

I have always worked for companies that pay weekly. Since you get paid for the week prior when you first start you don't get a paycheck until the second week. How does it work for companies that pay by-weekly? If I start on the first day after payday, will I get paid for week one when the next checks come out, and then weeks two and three when the next check after that comes out?

It depends on the company I can think of three different ways that I have been paid. But you should really ask your supervisor or someone from your payroll department.

Option #1:
They have a pay period that say runs from May 1 - May 15, you get paid for those days worked on the May 21. The next pay period is from May 15-May 30. You get paid for those days on June 1. So if you woked the May 16th you would have to wait all the way to June 1st to get paid.

Option#2:
The Company pays a week in advance. So even if the pay period is May 1 - May 15 and you started May 16, you would still get a weeks pay on May 21.

Option#3
The company calculates their pay only a few days ahead of time. So say pay days are the 15th and 30th of every month. Any day you worked from May 1 - May 13th you would be paid on the 15th. So you could start on the 13th and still get money on the 15th.

I hope that helps and is not too unclear. Most companies go with option one, so you could end up waiting 3 weeks before you get paid.
It really depends on the company , but normally they keep a week on reserve , lets see suppose your company pays today and you started last monday , you are not getting paid today, next paycheck in 2 more weeks they should pay you this week and the next one. So total you will not see a check until the 3rd week after starting in that company.
If you started the week after payday, that is one week left on that pay period. So, yes, you would get a check in two weeks for one week. Your first full paycheck would be two weeks after that. Ideally, you want to start at the beginning of a pay period, which (if you get paid on a Friday) starts the Monday of the week you get paid. That way you would get a full check, but it will be three weeks before you get it.
This is my job.
