My boss is painfully incompetent and every time I complain about it she retaliates.? |
It's not a Title VII issue (race, religion, sexual orientation, age, etc.) One instance - I complained about not having the tools necessary to do my job and she said I had an attitude with management and my raise suffered because she was the one evaluating me. She does it to everyone. Do I (and my colleagues) have any LEGAL recourse against her bullying? New York City Show the initiative and go straight to her boss. Explain that your entire department is not as efficient or profitable as it should be because everybody is having a difficult time working for her and you do not get the tools or support you need. If you can find the problems in your company and show them how to make more money and be more efficient, you'll move up the ladder. Your company does not want to pay a middle manager that makes her team uncomfortable or unhappy. Let it be known and stand out. Her boss should appreciate it. Just make sure you focus on the harm she is doing to your division/department and how the company is suffering because of her. Whatever you do, do not let it sound like a personal problem or it will be up to the company to do something about one of you instead of the company making a decision to maximize profits. Sadly there are some supervisors who do a terrible job, but have been fortunate to get great staff members who make them look good to the powers that be. She's not doing anything illegal -- she's simply a bully. You're only options are to either put up with her, or find another job. Going above her head on matters that are not truly illegal or unethical will likely just get you marked as a trouble maker. I've had some terrible supervisors -- they are not worth the headache. I work for an incredible boss now and I wouldn't go back to those horrid bosses for twice my pay! |
