Today during the interview..........? |
I was asked about my worst boss and why were they the worst boss. I described a boss who didn't give me help when I asked for it, and when asked why didn't he give me help. I answered because he didn't take me seriously. Did I say something wrong? After I answered that question, the interviewer just paused and didn't know what to say. Did I do something wrong by answering this question like that? Thanks and God Bless Your answer probably caused them to take a moment to wonder why your boss didn't take you seriously. If you came across as serious and professional during the rest of your interview, you should be fine. They could interpret your answer as meaning that you were hard working and dedicated and your boss just didn't see it. However, if you gave an impression of being a troublemaker, a whiner, or immature at any point, that answer would just reinforce an opinion they may have already been forming. Probably not, those type of questions don't really have a right or wrong answer (unless you start calling people names and ranting etc). It's more to assess how well you think and what kind of personality you have. you never want to be negative in an interview. because one day you could be in another interview saying negative things about that company (if they hire you). so anytime you're asked a question like this, you always want to turn it into a positive. so you could say "well, boss X and I didn't get along but that just encouraged me to be more independent in my position and rely on myself to get the job done." Thats a really bad question for an interviewer to ask u because it puts you in an uncomfortable position of being forced to bad mouth former employers- something nearly all interview advice columns discourage. You didnt do anything wrong. Don't worry. Above answerer is right... Interviewer should not have asked that question. So you learned a lesson. Next time (if ever) you are asked who your worst boss was, tell the truth: I don't think I've had a bad boss, once I discover their unique work habits and personalities I do my best to work with them. Also, I work very hard to avoid all adversarial conditions. thats a weird question gor an interview. i hate those kind of questions. not matter what you say it's wrong. its like they are setting you up to fall. usually the kind of job that would ask a question like that suck anyway. be gald if they dont call you back. keep looking. It doesn't sound odd to me. I think it sounds like your old boss was a dummy. Makes you look better. I think the interviewer was taken by surprise. |
