Department Store Job?

Hello, I have just left my Education...I am 18 and now need to find a full time job...To be truthful I am petrified of the prospect...It is ridiculous but I have never had a job before. I have had a two week work placement as part of my education. This was two years ago and was invaluable for me to learn how to act in a work context. I want to work in John Lewis (I guess as good as any company for a young man) or another department store. I just don't know how to apply? I have a feeling a CV is not needed...For an entry level position? Where should I go in order to get an "application form"? If so exactly what is the title for a job on the floor? Sales assistant? As much information etc one could provide would be most appreciated.

Seriously I need to know everything about this

First don't be nervous. Everyone started somewhere at one point. Go directly to the store and ask to see a manager and explain that you were interested in applying for a sales position. Don't necessarily call it a sales associate or sales assistant since many stores have different names(customer service rep, floor associate, etc...) for the people that work there and if you call it the wrong name it could look bad for you. Research the company a bit if you can online. As for a cover letter...not needed if you are filling out an application but it does look professional if you have a resume to attach to it since your resume may reflect more information that the small space allotted on an application. do u mean a sales associate? that is what i am anyways- but just go online or call them up to ask about an application.
An application and all you questions can be answered at the Customer Service desk at most department stores.
just go to the stores ur interested in working in and ask for an application most times they will have a paper one that u can fill out right there. or some even have an online application that u can go to the website and fill it out there.... some have a kiosk that u fill it out at the store.. like target, walmart most grocery stores like kroger, publix have kiosk....best buy, circuit city, toys r us places like those have online apps, but like i said just go to the stores ur interested in and they will let u know how to put in an app.. and the job title is sales associate or sales consultant
Contact their Human Resource department and ask for an application. Go to John Lewis in person, dress nicely and fill out an application. Also do this at department stores. I believe the title is sales assistant. They should know what you mean.

Good luck. Everyone starts somewhere.
