Need some intellect advice here.....? |
Tomorrow (wednesday, july 11 2007) I have a scheduled job interview. However, I am meeting my interviewer at a local Starbucks-I am nervous, as all get go. I need some advice on how to behave- I mean, I've been interviewed before, however it is usually in an office setting not a Starbucks. How do I get myself to relax, and I maybe meeting with the owner of the company I'll be working for. Help! Thanks and God Bless! Doing an interview for a job is like waiting at the dentist to get a needle stuck in your gum(s). No, it isn't going to feel good but the end result... Your tooth ache will ge gone!!! Here's what I've done over the years to remedy my tooth ache while waiting: Try to remember that the job is more important than the interview! The interview is to see if you and the employer see or think the same, or if you are worthy of having the job they are offering. Try turning this stinking thinking around. How about asking yourself if you really need to work for these people? Are they going to treat you like an adult. Will they respect the effort you put into their business? If you truly believe you have something to offer this company, let them know in no uncertain terms.... You are there to help them make money and it's your intention to do the best you can everyday. If they are willing to pay you for this effort, you will make the effort to show up on time everyday. Isn't that better? Don't worry so much, they'll hire you! Take this interview just as seriously as you would any other. Even though the setting is casual, the employer is still looking for someone professional and responsible. Be sure to smile and you'll be fine. Don't drink coffee, the caffeine will just make you more wired! The more you prepare the more relaxed you will be no matter the setting. Sit down and right out questions you think they will ask and your answers. If you can try to take a walk first or listen to some calming music. |
