When you type, do you "Hunt & Peck" or do you use correct technique? |
When you type, do you "Hunt & Peck" or do you use correct technique? It's about half and half for me. It depends on how long im going to be typing. If its this answer I am using proper techniques, if its one or two letter I hunt and peck. I took typing classes (Required) in elementary school, then again in high school... and I am on the computer alot so I use the correct technique. I can type fast without thinking where each letter is as my hands are trained to remember where each letter is located. There are times when I have to hunt and peck at a certain letter like z, or v.. but very seldom do I hunt and peck. Correct technique.....65 wpm I forgot to renew my typing hunting license this year so i got tags for a couple deer instead. I type very fast (had a course in HS) then took Mavis Beacon at home - I do a lot of writing (part of my job and an advice column).. I use the "correct" (i.e., using all fingers) technique, having taken a keyboarding class back in high school (on electric typewriters, not to give away how old I am). I do a lot of typing on my job (around 80 wpm), but I'm still a klutz with the number keys on the right of the keyboard or on the top row below the function keys, so I'll usually look down to make sure I'm hitting the right ones. |
