I have over 15 years experience in accounting but no one want to hire me. Should I try a new trade? |
and what should I try. I only have an associates degree. Any ideas? You might want to consider getting a bachelors, and updating some of your certifications. At your age - many in your field have far more than an Associates. At 33 you have plenty of time to try knew stuff. Try incorporating your current field into a knew field. Other words if sports interest you try to find a new position at a local sports agency something to incorporate that number knowledge you already posses but can build upon.Good luck!And remember its ok to like your job but its better to love it. Accounting can be a hard field to get a job in without a 4 year degree and designations such as CPA. You could start your own accounting service and cater to small businesses and home based businesses. This is a good time to think about how you want to spend the rest of your professional life. Life is not about making money, and there are so many different ways to do that anyway. With a little preparation now, you can spend your days doing something that is important to you and at the end of your life, you will have no regrets. You might want to consider why no one wants to hire you. 15 years experience does count, so take a look at your resume and the way you present yourself in an interview. How do you come across?
