Do temp agencies have the right to require u 2 sign over all access to personal info waive all rights to sue? |
they get access to medical exams, taxes, bank accouts all your private stuff and say they wont hire you unless you wave rights to sue if they use the info in a way that hurts you. Yes, they have the right to your Social Security number - if you intend to use direct deposit for your checks you have to provide bank account numbers as well. Much of this is to verify your identity and is to protect people from those who'd use their identities to secure temporary work under a stolen ID. If it is a reputable firm you are dealing with - there shouldn't be a problem. Protection of Individual Privacy and Access to Records Under the Privacy Act of 1974: http://www.dol.gov/dol/allcfr/title_29/p... Use and collection of SS#s: http://www.dol.gov/dol/allcfr/title_29/p... They have the right to do just about whatever they want, if you sign the paper. You could contest it in court though depending on the state, but most states favor employers. Other than CA thank god. They can ask you to sign anything they wish. You also have the right to go elsewhere. I recommend the latter. Yes they have the right to ask for all your personal information since the agency will be your employer once they sent you on an assignment and until an employer hires you (for which the agency will charge a hefty fee). |
