Comeback remark for a receptionist? |
Some co-workers were displeased with a receptionist who took some time to go to a doctor appointment. What could she say to them? These co-workers are rude, selfish, etc. What is a way to let them know an occasional doctor/dentist appointment is ok? Don't worry it's not cancer thankfully my tests came back Oh, I couldn't have root canal down at night - they didn't have office hours for an emergency. It's not her place to come back at them. If she is really bothered, she tells her boss and he/she deals with it. She ought to let it slide. Rude people won't register the come back anyway Nothing. just ignore them. They'll get over it. ============ Of course, a good comeback is when a co worker ( a guy) has a dr appt. Ask him how he is a going to explain to his wife why she should get an antibiotic for his kidley infection. How about ....... "You guys should take some time off to see a doctor too. I'd suggest a psychologist. Maybe he can help you work out those issues you have about other people going to doctors". I agree it is no one's business why anyone needs a personal day off. Tell them all to mind their own job, they are interfering with hers. It shouldn't need an explaination or excuse. It's allowed and it's none of thier business. If you deal in "come backs" with individuals like the ones you're describing, you open up a bigger can of worms than the one you're in currently. She definitely should take it up with her supervisor...that's why a supervisor is a supervisor (it isn't ALL about a bigger paycheck...there's this kind of stuff to deal with too). And nothing drives small-minded people crazier than a big smile when they're rude. They wonder what you know that they don't. |
