HOW MUCH IS A TYPICAL/AVERAGE RAISE? I LIVE IN THE SF BAY AREA.

Often raises are based on the cost of living index for your area (COLA- cost of living adjustments). Some people get only this percentage increase, while others sometimes get additional % points as a merit (performance) increase. Since you live in a higher cost area, (Ca in general), your COLA may be 3-5%- you can probably find a # on the internet.
1-4% Depending on Company, Cost of Living, and Position.
