How to introduce...? |
how do I introduce myself to my new co-workers. I would like to be preparing a speech or rather an introduction about myself but I don't know what to include and what to leave out. I will be beginning my new career as a Medical Billing person on Monday, August 6,2007 at 8 a.m.- any suggestions from you professionals with experience- do you even remember your first day at your new career?? I don't know how to do an introduction- isn't that horrible!!! thanks for your help and God Bless!! You don't need to prepare any kind of introduction speech or anything like that. That can come off as fake. The best thing you can do is smile, be personable, and approachable. The rest will take care of itself over time. You'll get to know your co-workers better and vice versa. Good luck! Just be yourself. Be friendly with everything and be agreeable and people will like you. Just say 'Hi I'm 'name' ..I'm new in the billing department. You don't need to add anything about you it's not the right time to add personal details about you, just chit chat about general stuff, lik you're happy to be there and looking forward to be part of the team. It's not horrible. It's quite common. Ask the person who hired you to introduce you or if it is ok for you to just go around and formally introduce yourself. It's very polite to do that plus it will give you a better understanding of the lay out of your working environment. Just keep it short and sweet. Ask what they do so that you know what they're doing there too. It's very good of you to do this at the beginning of a job. Congrats and good luck! Why do you have to make a speech? Most of the time you are introduced one-on-one to the staff by your boss who makes sure that you know each other's names. It is later on informally at the lunch table that you begin with small talk. Everyone talks about themselves. It's like making new friends!! Good luck. here's what always worked for me: show up the first day with fresh bagels or donuts or muffins. get there a half hour early and put them in the break room, then just hang out with a cup of coffee. introduce yourself "hi my name is _________, its my first day!" it'll go from there. you do NOT need a speech. |
