Am I being unprofessional?? |
ok so I have been at my job for 2 months. I work at a community college. I work part-time as an office assistant. I don't like it at all. In fact, I loathe it there. It is just a bunch of tedious, mind-numbing work. The pay isnt that great either. So I figure I am unhappy and I am not doing anyone any favors by staying so I submitted my two weeks notice today. But the beginning of Fall semester is around the corner. I know it's about to get super-busy. By me leaving I will leave them short handed. But I can't stand it here another minute. I will go crazy if I stay. Am I being unprofessional? You gave them two weeks notice to find a replacement. You have acted professionally, in my opinion. If you are unhappy in your job, your attitude will reflect it, and you are right, you aren't doing anyone, yourself included, any favors by staying. Getting your degree should be your first priority. Source(s): http://www.moneynemployment.com... yes but if its torture then get out of it! @ least u gave them 2 weeks notice! i mean you wont DIE workin that job! good luck findin a new job! That is hard to answer on one hand maybe there is someone who needs a job and that would be a God send on the other hand your right it might be swamped and they wouldn't have enough people to help. I don't think your being unprofessional though if your not really helping anyone out then it is probably time to go. Especially if the work is just mindless and tedious. Sorry I cant help much more, hope you find your answerer. Sure hun, you did the right thing. It would be worse if you stayed. No offense but people that aren't happy where they work usually tend to show it in one way or another and co-workers hate being around miserable people, lol, tust me I work with one right now. So go, find something you like, someplace that will make you happy, a place that will make you shine and want to give 150% of yourself. No sense wasting your time right!!! Your doing the right thing, best of luck to you:)) Giving a two week notice is the most professional thing to do when tendering a resignation and you should not feel guilty one bit. If they ask you to stay longer to help during the busy season, then you decide what works best for you but don't say yes if it will compromise your ability to find another job. Giving a two weeks notice is professional. If you are really worried about the busy Fall semester you could go above and beyond by finding your replacement. |
