Do tech support jobs have a better reputation than telemarketing jobs in a call centre? |
In Canada. Tech support is where it's AT in today's workforce. Everybody NEEDS them. I don't feel the same about telemarketing. I feel sorry for them. I don't know about reputation but they are probably treated better rather than hanging up on you... Tech support is a career. Telemarketing is a job...which do you seek? I would say so. I hate it when telemarketers call during dinner or family time. Also, I call tech support only when I need to. I don't get aggrevated with them unless I can't understand them. It depends on what your final goal is. Many jobs in the financial industry look favourably on both. Telemarketing means that you have experience in dealing with people, etc. and can work in one of their call centres (telebanking). You can move up from there. Tech support can always be used in the I.T. department. I work in the Canadian financial industry. I think yes. |
