Need advice, should I look for a new job???

just started this job & I was hired to eventually be the supervisor of the office. Well it has been a rough couple of weeks adjusting to the new job & I vented about the current boss & just the job to an employee that has been there for many years & who was basically passed over for the promotion to supervisor (for which I was hired). This person was reprimanded today for telling me she wanted to quit, & I told management, but today instead of her a tongue lashing from the owner, she blurts out about what I wrote on a blog. She did not give details, but she basically said I posted a blog about the current supervisor. I am wondering if when they do actually fire her, will she let it all out? I went and spoke to the supervisor about this & was up front about EVERYTHING, & the supervisor told me that this is the norm of what this person does. She tries to avoid any responsibility by focusing on others. I am afraid she will give all info when they do decide to fire her. Any advice?

Erase your blog. And you want to be a supervisor? The first thing is dont share information with the lower half. You goofball.
i think there is no harm in talking your heart out to a co-worker. most companies hire women only so that they can be sounding boards to their male colleagues. so there is nothing wrong that you have told her about a lot of your feelings about the current job that you are in. however, we must remember that feelings about a job change over a period of time. what you said to her at one point of time in the past may not be exactly true right now. you might be feeling better about the job now. you already have your supervisor on your side, so things are obviously getting better for you at work. if she is removed from her job, and spills the beans and lets it all out, you can always say that in the past you felt differently, but at present you feel differently about the same job. everybody understands how things change in life. i see no reason for you to quit the job because of simply having opened your heart and work related problems to her. if they fire her, her words are not going to be valid any longer, anyway. more importantly, in future, you must train yourself not to wear your heart on your sleeve and confide too soon & too deeply in co-workers unless you know them very well at a personal level for atleast a year or two. take care and god be with you. kalyan.shasank@gmail.com

Remember you're hired to do a job and not make friends. So its best stay within your job boundary. As for your blog, change its contents so even if she were to let the cat out, there is no evidence.
As a rule of thumb, never say anything negative to coworkers about the company or the job. You never know when someone is trying to get your job and will use what you say against you. If you want to complain then do it to friends not affiliated with the office.
I know this won't answer your question, but I hope you learned a lesson from this.

As a supervisor, you should never be venting to a subordinate. Actually, you really shouldn't vent to anyone at work or in public. Try to reserve your complaints for an outside buddy or spouse.

Airing complaints (even valid ones) to colleagues can compromise your authority, their perception of you, and your promotability.

To answer your question, I definitely wouldn't quit. But, you should revise or delete that blog entry.
As a supervisor there has to be a clear line between boss and subordinate. The worst mistake bosses (and potential bosses) make is to confide in regular workers. She may well hold it against you. Dispose of any "evidence" you have and keep any negative opinions (no matter how true) to yourself. Many workplaces are snakepits. You probably won't be fired but a promotion might be a bit tougher to get now.
