I need some suggestions?

I know this is the wrong section, but since this is where I ask most of my questions, I thought this is where I would get the best response.

I was just hired at a job 2 months ago in the HR department. As you know in HR you deal with a lot of confidential stuff. The thing is they put me in the unsecured cubical that do not have keys to anything, and we have asked since the 1 day I started to have keys made that I still don鈥檛 have. There is this guy who has an office, but when a retiree comes to work two days out of the week if at all, he has to give up his office for her on those two days. I would like to have the office, and he have the cubical since he has his own office, and the other 3 or 4 days out of the week the other office goes empty. I would like for someone to give me some suggestions on how to write a proposal as to why I need the office. Below are the reasons:

I'm not good with words, but I would just continue mentioning confidentiality. I think it's a very valid concern. I would probably mention that it's in the best interest for the company and it's employees. You are able to do your work a lot more effective and efficiently because you are able to be more comfortable and not concerned about having to have each and every piece of paper put away in a desk drawer that doesn't lock anyway.

Again, I'm sorry for not being able to help on the wording. But it's very valid and I'm suprised you even need to make the request.
I am not sure who you are trying to lock things away from. But in most employees sign a confidential statement, so they can not repeat anything they see or hear. Also remember you have worked there for only two months, who did it before you and how was it done then. "If its not broke don't fix it"

But the best advise is to spend more time learning your job and doing your best, don't go to your supervisor to complain about the work space until you have worked there long enough to know what you are talking about. Right now you would only look like a know it all newbie.
If your workplace is like mine, offices are a hot commodity. The problems you mention are valid concerns; however, you don't need an office to address them:

1) You need a locking file cabinet.
2) You need an "in" box with a lock.
3) You need a privacy screen on your computer.

I think it will be much easier to get these items than to get an office.

Since you've asked for keys and they have not been given, you need to discuss with your boss that leaving personal information unsecured, which you're basically being forced to do, opens your company up to a lawsuit if someone takes & misuses the data. I'd put it in an email so that if anything DOES happen, you have proof that you brought the problem to the attention of management.
My cubicle has cabinets that were installed above the desk the lock. Or a drawer unit that slides under your desk that can lock. Maybe they could do that for you.
