Looking for some opinions. Advice on a job.?

I have been working for a company (a public school system in the testing department) through a placement service for almost 1 year now. I was told by the school that after 1 year they would have to consider you hired on, so they say they need me to take 5 days off so they don't have to hire me in. They don't want to pay benefits. I was also told they may have to let me go and place someone in my position that is already employed with them (a teachers aid). I have not heard back about that one yet. My question is should I stay here until they A.) Hire me in or B.)let me go for another employee? Or should I start looking for another job now? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Definitely don't put all your eggs in one basket. That is to say, don't rely on the fact that you will get hired on. However, don't assume that they will hire someone else on in your place even if that is what you heard. I would say, keep your door open for new opportunities while you are working there. Show them that you are going to be around and that you enjoy what you are doing. As a back up, start looking for other opportunities so that if they don't keep you around you won't be left wondering what to do.
Start looking for another job. For one reason or another they don't want to hire you. Stop wasting your time and find another job that you can advance in.
Luara welcome to the new age of employment. Keep your cool and if you cannot keep your cool. Then start seeking other employment BEFORE you commit to leaving.

If they want you to take leave so the "books" will look right then that only goes to show you that the Ethics they are teaching (are they?) is not being practiced at your employment. Same thing with my sister in N.C. and others around the states from what I have been gathering.

Good Luck with that.
I doesn't sound like they have intentions of hiring you. If you like the job and want the experience then I guess you could stay until they hire somebody else. Me personally, I would want something more stable with benefits. I would start looking for another job now.

Good Luck!
When you know there's a possibility that you could be losing your job you should start looking for a new one.

If you find one before they let you go, all the better to make a fresh break and go on with your life.

If they let you go before you find another job, at least you've started the process, and have been getting out there.
Don't pull the plug...let them let you go...if you quit you can't get unemployment. It would not hurt to start looking in the meantime. My philosophy is that you should always be looking, especially in today's world where there is no such thing as job security...
