Not sure how to feel about this?

The other full time secretary in my office just received the title "clerical office leader". Ok. I have more seniority and knowledge than this woman. She is not "over me", just the two other clerks, I also make $1.00 more an hour than she does. Yet, I still feel offended. Granted, i'm not interested in acquiring more work, it's just like a slap in the face. Any thoughts/comments on this? Am I being silly?

Not at all. Perhaps you could speak to your supervisor and find out why exactly they gave her the title instead of you?

I have been an admin for years.... maxed out on salary and perform a LOT of duties for the company, but none of them are what you would consider 'secretary' duties.

So.... I quit. :) My next job will NOT have Administrative or Clerical in the title. :(

Good luck to you!
That's pretty lame. I'd say something to whoever it was that made that decision.
You are being silly. The boss might have a logical reason for doing what was done and it might have nothing to do with you at all. To make it about you seems very foolish. If you were happy before, you should continue to be happy.

Perhaps your thin skin is part of the problem.
Sabotage her work, and then embarrass her by saying something really impressive, such as "Why don't you use your Clerical Office Leader skills to figure this one out."
This is a prime example of why managers and politicians have to spend so much time being politically correct and hedging their words. They can't just do what needs to be done because there is always someone who will feel slighted and waste time whining about their hurt feelings.

You make more than this woman. Get over it.
It's simple. Get over it as it will happen time and time again in your future. It is very common for someone who makes less or less seniority to get a title and it means basically nothing.

If you are not looking to accept more responsibility and you already make more money than she does, you are already ahead.

If you insist, you can ask your boss, but whatever the explanation is, you will not be satisified. Besides, how do you know she isn't doing more work than you do in some area and the boss values that portion of her effort?

No, you are not being silly, but you need to get over it. It's one of those things that happens in this imperfect world.
Maybe your boss thought your time and experience would be better spent on more important tasks than watching over the two junior clerks.
