HELP!!!!!!!!! I need to know what to do about my job.? |
I work as a 2nd shift supervisor in a plant, I have been here a little of 1 yr. It is a small plant where people have been there for 10 yrs , everyone on second shift is fairly new, they are trying to restart 2nd shift after a couple of times trying and failing. The owner and everyone on days has always thought the worst about 2nd shift. I have tried to change their thinking but no luck. I can not seem to find another job. I am stuck and I do not know what to do. I was working out of town and had to take this job to be closer to my father who had cancer, he has passed away and now I have his house and bills I need to pay so leaving town for new employment is not an option. I think I am going to end up getting fired due to their unreachable goals. I wish I had not taken this job but I had to at the time. I cannot do anything else I have always been a supervisor and have nothing under my belt that I can do otherwise. Help me!!!!!! what can a person do to change their life very fast? Start appling right away for new supervisor jobs at manufacturing plants. If you want to try to change your bosses mind, you need a well thought out plan. Put it all on paper: how many people you need, how many machienes you will operate, and any other issues that you can solve. Request a formal meeting with your boss and tell him all your ideas to keep the 2nd shift. If you don't want to go that route, go to your boss and tell him you are worried about loosing your job and the amount of money you make and ask if there are anyother positons that would be comprable if 2nd shift shuts down. You should get unemployment if you are layed off and their are many training programs. Your community college should have career counsilors and career assesment tests. If you know what your intrested in, all you need to do is find a school, enroll, and go to finincial aid and they will help you figure out how to pay. I've been a vocational counselor in the past and always had my clients start by researching a new study-career. Go to the local community college and start up a vocational screening. But coming from me: if you don't have time for this, simply ask yourself what are you natural abilities. This is a start. My heart really goes out to you. First of all, have you tried talking to your bosses? I mean, I know that is often a lost cause, but you know the kinds of bosses you have and if they are approachable or not. I know you say you can't leave this job, but unless you live in a town that is 1000 miles from any other towns and only has one business, there is always another chance for another job. Being a supervisor, you must have some management experience. Also, you have various technical knowledge that be able to be applied to another industry. I know it's near impossible to do with a full time job, but if you can find the time, go talk to an employment company or even your local unemployment department for advice on finding a new job (or what can happen in the meantime if you lose this one). Good luck! I'm sure something will work out for you. I can honestly say that "exagerrating" on your resume would be the best possible thng to do in your case. Find a couple of friends who can fake as refrences..you'll have a great job in no time! Good Luck buddy! |
