Can I be fired for this? |
I work as a customer service agent at a call center. During my lunch breaks, I usually just bring in chips ahoy! and eat it in the break room. My supervisor saw me yesterday and said how gross it was! He seemed genuinely agitated. CAN HE FIRE ME FOR THIS?! I have an otherwise good record at work other than one time I laughed at a customer but he said he would have done it too. HELP he didnt threaten it BUT I AM WORRIED PLZ HELP ME Gosh, that sounds like a very silly thing to get terminated over. I can't see this as being legitimate grounds for a firing. Maybe if you were making a huge mess in the break room without cleaning it up, you might get repromanded. But fired? I doubt it. Relax. . . Why in the world would he be able to fire you for THAT? LOL Did you sign a contract saying he has to like everything you eat?! Probably not, right? . . .If your boss just dislikes you, that'll cause some problems, and may try to find a way to fire you for other reasons, or push you into quitting. But I don't think this has anything to do with the cookies. . . . Not very likely you'd be fired for your dietary habits. But almost all states in the US have what's called employment at will, which means that your employer can fire you for pretty much any reason or for no reason as long as it's not something like your gender or race. If there is nothing in your contract about food form outside then don't worry about it. If it was an issue i think he would have said something. Why would you be fired for the food you bring in? Now, the biggest question is why would you want to eat sugar for lunch? Are you overweight at all? Maybe your boss is worried about you. Anyway, unfortunately some states are considered "right to work" states which means your employer doesn't need a decent reason to fire you. But if your work is done right, and you are a good employee in general, I don't see how cookies can make you lose your job. i don't think you can be fired for eating cookies in the breakroom while on break no he cant fire you for what you eat. he probably just said it to have something to say while in the same room. also, why do you care what he says about what you eat? im sure he does things that agitate you every day. |
