Need some advice on job? Please help?? |
I sent my resume for a position as accountant at a local dealership. I got the job & I have been there a month. The lady I will be replacing has me doing the day to day things of posting monies, verifying cash received, paying bills, etc. She has not shown me anything except the cash reporting & the sales and use tax. I have over 13 + years experience in accounting and the last person they hired, claimed to have a bachelor degree in accounting, but was a total idiot according to the controller. I like where I am working but I work 52 hours every other week and the hours are KILLING me. I am tired non-stop. I have no time for anything. Oh, but accept to sleep. The money is ok, but for now, I am basically working there as a workerbee. If any of you have worked for a dealership before and it was your first time doing so, did you last? Should I stay there? I cannot quit because I need income, but I also cannot interview on the spot either? Advice please?? Speak with your immediate supervisor and ask him/her on what career path are there for you in the company. Let him/her knows that you're capable of doing more than just day-to-day routine tasks. Do you have any Computer experience!!!!! There are many software programs that give your the P and L Balance Sheet Records after en ties of the basic boo keeping records. Suggest that the controller look into this plus a refresher course at a community college A lot of times when you replace someone they have a hard time letting go of their old position. Is this "lady" getting moved up or is she moving out? Take the reason that she is moving into account and ask your self if she is having trouble letting go. Do you have a list of what you want to know? She can't address your issues if she doesn't know what they are. Go to lunch with her and find out the who, what, when, where, why, how and how much of her issues. If you say anything about you it was too much. Find out what motivates her. If you get run it's because you act like you need to be run. If you are going to be in charge start acting like it - you don't turn the hive over to a worker bee if you are expecting a Queen Bee. persist http://game2gate.myeglobal.com How long is the person you were replacing going to be there ? She will need to show you everything before she leaves. At least I hope she does. Once she leaves and you move into her job fulltime willl you have more time /freedom / fewer hours or will it be worse. ? Once you answer those questions it should be obvious if you need to start looking elsewhere for work. I would give it time. Once the person you are replacing leaves, you may find your own way of doing things that will allow you to get them done at a better pace and you won't have to work so many hours. |
