What shall I answer at interview when asked what my weakneses are? |
It is an interview for a admin assistant. But what is the best answer ? just say none, unless you do have weaknesses professionally wise [i.e. bad back, attention disorder, dyslexic, so and so. if you do this you wont get the job anyway ...]. that's the answer your possible employer wants to hear. chocolate Your weakness would be attention to detail. Tell them that you like to ensure the job is done correctly so find this takes a little longer sometimes than people prefer. Honesty-always the best place to start. This is one of the hardest questions for anyone to answer in any interview. The best answer? The honest one. Example: you might have a problem with being criticized. you might have a problem with not receiving praise for a job well done. you might have a problem having someone younger/older than you be your boss. These are just a few "weaknesses" I've heard in interviews. With each one though I'm glad people were willing to admit their weakness...remember we're all human, we all have a weakness and we're definitely not perfect. Good luck with the job. I have advised people, hired and fired people, and I think honesty is above all the best answer, but I think in seeking a weakness, it is usually best to make it a weakness that is also a strength. Make it a a positive negative---Like: I'm too much of a perfectionist. I have a hard time sometimes accepting my own mistakes. I want to develop so fast and do the job so well, I can be impatient at times with myself. I have a hard time accepting compliments, or a hard time judging my own performance or something like that. Whatever you do, do not lie! That is one weakness that if found out, will color all the other strengths and weaknesses. It is a no-win question that second-rate interviewers like to use, to make candidates feel uncomfortable. Don't answer it directly. Say, "I like to pay careful attention to all of my tasks at hand." Stun them with doublespeak. If you are good, they will never realize you didn't answer the question directly, as asked. Politicians do this all the time. |
