Co-worker stealing from boss?



Help, I work in a small office, 3 employees one boss. One co-worker has POA over account receivable account and personal payroll account. We have just discovered that she is telling our boss that she is taking time off without pay and she is actually paying herself for the full work week. This is the second time in one month it has happened, we also discovered yesterday that she paid a personal bill ($16.00) out of his account too. Our co-worker is/was a friend and we know if we go to our boss he will fire her without any written notices.
We are sick over this and hate to see her loose her job but this is not right. Any suggestions?

This is a major ethical issue and it needs to be stopped. This could end up costing you your job. My experience is that when this starts it starts small and before long they start taking large amounts of money from the company. Once that happens, you could lose your job and the company could go under.

How to handle it is really tough? You could tell your friend that you know what is going on and that she needs to correct her wrongs. The only catch there is she could become jealous or upset that she was caught. If so, she could have the power to make things right and then make it look like someone else has done something wrong.

The safest option is to just come clean with the boss and let the boss know what you think is going on or advise the boss to look into it. You can let the boss figure it out.
It is definitely not right and you should tell the boss. She will take more and more, if she thinks she is getting away with it. And it is very unfair to you guys who don't steal. If I would be the boss I would want to know.
She might be your friend, but she's not just stealing from your boss: she's stealing from you as well. This is money that your boss is counting on to pay expenses and bonuses. If it's not there when he needs it, the whole company could wind up in major trouble.

If you want to give her a chance to redeem herself, make sure you've got your evidence compiled. Then go to her and tell her you know what she's up to, and if she doesn't stop it and make restitution, you're going to go to your boss. Then follow through if she balks. Good luck.
She is wrong and actually committing a crime. Since you are aware of the crime and it has occurred more than once, you are an accessory. This makes you also guilty. Your boss has the right to also fire you if he/she catches you. Inform your boss immediately, the boss may allow your friend to just pay back the funds and keep her job.
You need to tell your boss. Consider:

1) If your co-worker is expecting you to cover for her actions (and thus making you guilty of complicity) she's not really your friend.

2) Ultimately, this hurts the company's bottom line, which could easily impact your long-term prospects there.

3) If your boss finds out some other way, and realizes that you knew but didn't tell him, he's going to be distrustful of you in the future and may decide to just replace his entire staff.
There is never an excuse for stealing or embezzling. Not even for feeding your starving children. She will give excuses if you go to her and she knows she is caught. It will only get worse if you don't tell your boss. You can all be out of a job if she steals enough.
confront her tell her if it happens again you will inform the boss as she is jeopardizing your jobs as ou are now aware she is stealing
