After submitting a resume online how long to wait 4 response? be told if 'no'? |
have waited for response; none so far - not even 'no'. should i follow up with paper in person? Just remember that job searching is more than sending out resumes. It's a marketing campaign that should be proactive on your part. Meaning that you should follow up with a phone call... more than one if necessary. As another person said, about once a week is probably about right - until you get a conclusive answer. Persistence is the key! Just realize that probably more than 90% of job seekers don't follow up... that gives you a strong advantage if you do. While you are submitting a resume' online, there are thousands of others doing the exact same thing. Unless your resume' makes it through the automatic filters, and somebody actually bothers to read it, it is very unlikely you will get much more than an automated response that it had been received. Just assume that if you haven't heard back in a week or so that you haven't got the job and move on to the next prospect. I've gotten calls from as far back two MONTHS after submitting a resume - ya snooze, ya loose, is how I look at it. after you submit your resume wait at least a week, then give them a call to check status on resume. it doesn't hurt to call. some companies it takes them one to two weeks to look at them, and others won't bother looking at them! If there is a contact phone number, wait about a week and then call them to let them know your continued interest...or, send an e-mail if there is no phone contact number. Call about once each week, unless they give you some information otherwise to wait longer, so they don't forget about you. I would suggest you contact the POC to check on the status of your resume. |
