Change of career, what you think about male receptionists?? |
i am a receptionist at a dental clinic (im male) although the pay is good. i feel awkward about the position. should i or should not? There is nothing wrong with male receptionists. I plan on becoming a professional administrative assistant and most people call that a secretary and I could careless. I like helping people and I didn't want to be a teacher so I figured I could help adults (who usually need more help than kids haha). So feel proud that you have a job that pays well enough. I mean if it really bothers you, you can go do construction to feel like a man, only don't be surprised if you see a woman out there with you. Be proud of your job no matter what! Do not feel awkward with a decent position with good pay. Make it as a "stepping stone" to something better position. It will not be bad if you take-up dentistry also or another course allied to it - you already have some edge. Why do you feel awkward? Could it be you have pre-conceived stereotypical prejudices????????? Who care the sex?????? As long as you do a good job, shouldn't you feel pride in your work? Do you like what you do? If not, then get out, if so, then tell everyone else to take a hike, that you are the best recepctionist going and they should be so lucky to have you!!!!!!!!! Has no one ever told you that no one else can make you feel inferior without your permission? Hey, if you think being a male receptionist is not a good position for you, then you're right. And if you think being a male receptionist is a good position for you, then you're right too! By the way, what I wouldn't give for a great male receptionist that doesn't look down their nose at you and look you up and down... I think male receptionists are good at the job. You shouldn't feel bad!! you're doing a job that's all!! :-) nothing special about it as long as you are doing your job quite well no problem with that. |
