Can I deduct the cost of looking for a job as an expense for tax in Australia?

e.g. Public transport, internet cafe for job searching etc

no, the deductions have to be in relation to actually earning income. for example, public transport from one job to another while working. good luck with the job hunting :) Source(s): i'm an accountant
It would be nice, wouldn't it?

Perhaps if you are working in a job and are looking for another job in the same vocation you can claim training as a tax deductable expense.
