What are the taxes like? |
I want to the tax for a foreign nurse or technician working in australia. If you are present in Australia for more than half the year, chances are you will be considered a resident for tax purposes and will be treated the same as australian citizens in most cases. The tax rates have dropped for this current financial year so that's a bonus. non-resident tax rates are higher, but as a non-resident you don't get taxed on foreign sourced income, while a resident does. As a nurse, items such as your clothes, shoes, watches, technical gear and the such are a tax deduction. If you are concerned, you can either talk to the ATO or speak to a tax agent in Australia. Ugh... no idea. |
