I assume its an investment. This is usually paid yearly back to you unless you opted to reinvest it rather than take as a payment. I think you are talking about Stock Dividend. A company every year keep aside a portion of their Net Income for investment purposes or for future use. Some times companies reach a situation where they need not any more need this fund which is called retained earnings. Then they will issue Share dividends on this to the existing share holders. Company will stipulate say 1:5 dividned stock, then for every 100 shares you own you will get additional 500 shares more which will be priced at par and this retained earnings is converted to equity in the names of the existing stock holders. Dividend shares mean that you get a percentage of the profits which are made by a company after the overheads and all the necessary payments have been met. If a company is true to its investors and says that they have earned a 拢100,000,000 in profit then it depends on how many shares you hold and how many investors within that company...payment varies on what you yourself have bought in shares. |
