Can anyone tell me 40 percent taken off of 700.00 dollars , what is the answer please ?

I am doing a tax percentage , 40 % tax off of 700 dollars , I am not bright with math , I don`t understand how to do it on a calculator , can anyone help me please .

u want to know the 40% tax off or the 60% balance? since u use the words "taken off" i assume you want to know the remaining part, which is 60%. so 60/100 x 700 will give u $420.

60/100 x 700
= 60 x 7 (where u cancel off both 2 zero from 100 and 700)
=$420
ok go 700 % by 40 x 100
$700-$280=$420
7 x 40 = 280 so 280 dollars-D
700 x 40% ?

700 x 40 / 100 = 280

then minus that from 700 = $420
should be 280.00
10% is 70
70x4 is 280
420
