How do I avoid ridiculous brokerage charges to ship my stuff to Canada. From the U.S? |
The stuff i'm shipping is not stuff for resale its my own persoanl stuff. I find it stupid and generally bullshit to pay money on stuff i've bought and paid for years ago. I also have duel citzenship status. Can someone help. go get them by urself or ask someone, i hate taxes so always i avoid that even if ist illegal Depends on what value the shipper in the USA puts on the packing slip & invoice. If you buy something worth 100$ you can ask the shipper to put it's value at 25$ and bam!you just saved 75% ship with FEDEX they cover most brokerage charge in the fee and they will help you with the paper for tax free entry of personal effects aww Sometimes items shipped by U.S. post go through Canada customs free, whereas by U.P. there is usually a brokerage fee and customs duty. The easier way is to carry it with you to Canada. When you go through Canada customs, you can indicate on the customs card that a certain amount of goods purchased during your trip to the U.S. are following you. Then you can apply for a refund later. I think the maximum for a week or more away from Canada is a few hundred dollars. |
