Why is gas so expensive in British Columbia and just next door in Alberta they pay almost $0.40 less? |
Its the same gas. Every Province has a different price. And a lot more expensive then Are neighbors (USA) to the south have to pay. I think the prices are being fixed and there are a lot of antitrust laws being broken. But The Canadian Govenment won't step in because they get 100's of millions in Gas Tax. Gasoline prices vary from state to state and sometimes from town to town. Normally it is due to different tax requirements from place to place. I live near Sacramento, California, USA. I live in lower middle class neighborhood, about 40 miles away is a very affluent neighborhood, the difference in price is always about 15 cents a gallon. It is always less in the more affluent neighborhood. My Mother-in-Law lives there, we visit often and I always try to have a dry tank when I get there. It's just one of those things. OMG, it just occurred to me, $0.40 difference. The last time I was in Canada gas was sold in liters, are you talking about that much a liter or have you converted it to gallons? If you are talking cost difference on a liter that is a big bunch of money. With a 60 liter thank that amounts to $24 a tank full. Man that sounds like entirely too much for local taxes to account for the difference. If you are talking liters, someone is gouging you. If the Government isn't interested I don't know what to tell you to do. Maybe a trip to the polls on your next election day is in order. Good luck, wish I could be more help. Because you got it wrong. I drove from Vancouver to Calgary to Edmonton last week and there's no such thing as $0.40 less. In fact, there's no difference at all. Myself |
