What if I dont filed taxes?

Im working two jobs and only filed for a return on one. I would be getting money back from the job I did not file, but I just didnt. I do my own taxes and just didnt do it on time. Am I going to get in trouble if I DON'T file and the government owes me money?

If you are getting money back, then no you will not be in any kind of trouble. If you owe money, you will pay penalties and interest. You dont need to file a return if the gov. owes you money. I dont see why you wouldnt file it. If you decide to file it, you file an amended return. You have three years to file an amended return. Many websites allow you to do this for free if you are under a certain income level Source(s): Tax preparer for 9 years
Learn to spell first. Yes to your last question. You should file an extension, which is now good for six months. The government asks that you estimate on the extension request. It will catch up with you some day if you continue to ignore it. Get er done! If you do it now, there may be a small penalty, but it's worth it in the long run. The IRS is so empowering and can garner your checking accounts, wages, etc. They could ruin you in a day!!
You will experience severe penalties and anal probing!
If the gov't owes you money, no you're not going to get in trouble. However, you can't owe money from one job and not from another - all your income is added together and your taxes are based on that. The income you didn't declare could have put you into a higher tax bracket which means you could owe more.
Fill in an adjustment form and include the missing income in it.You may be subject to penalty and interest.
