Can i redeem my taxes from visiting Canada ?

Can i redeem my taxes from visiting Canada ?

When you buy hotel, food, clothing etc in Canada, you pay two taxes. One of them is the GST, which you can get back if a) the item is more than $50 and the total of all items being claimed is more than $200 (as I best remember).

There is a standard form available at the canadian border or look for it online by googling "Canadian GST rebate" or something like that. watch out for dealers who will handle the transaction for you but charge a percentage. Just fill-in the real form, and mail it off to Canada. Make copies of all your receipts and then wait a few weeks...
If you mean for items you purchased yes.You need a certain form and different provinces have different amounts that you can get a refund for.
Yes, as long as it's not food related, and you save your receipts (which must be at least $50 a piece) you can get your taxes back at the border before re-entering the us.
I just returned from Southern Ontario a few weeks ago.. try the Canadian Border Patrol Website
They should have told you that any taxes paid on lodging would be returned to you at the duty free store before you crosed the border into the US. with your reciept that is.
experience
Only for goods. Things like food and hotel don't count.
So it is often times not even worth doing.
