In Canada, there are 2 level of income taxes you have to pay. One is Provincial income tax, the other is Federal. You file a tax return every year. The ending period is December 31 each year.
All income from employment, investment, and some foreign income are taxable. You can claim a personal exemption on your tax return. You can also claim your wife and children as your dependent. For more info, visit Revenue Canada Agency website.
I traveled through Yukon and BC. pretty sure each Provence differs. I know of a tax with initials GST one must pay on all goods purchased, and the tax was high. Government Services Tax?.
