What is income tax in ontario canada? It is a tax on income. It's the joyful little thing we do every February to April.... Giving what's owed to our country... Income Tax in Ontario is a very complicated experience to go through, as there are tax credits for a variety of different things, such as personal IN./CM./TX. & taxes for businesses. Basicallt they are really the same for everyone in Ontario{PersonalI/TXS.} We pay taxes on the salary we made that year to the GOVT. based on our income. We get a GST rebate if our salary is below a certain amount. Our Abrogional People pay taxes in some instances(if they live outside a Reserve) but are excempt if they work outside a Reserve.{ unless they are working for an Indian Company or Orgionazion off the Reserve.}They have to have what is known as An Indian Idenification Card to get this break. They are also exemp from taxes on cigerettes if on a Reservation or off with the card. That is why we have so much smuggling of cigs. going through this way, as they buy them without taxes, say $40.00 a carton & sell them for a markup value of about $50.00 a carton, saving the buyer about $15.00-$25.00 a carton. Thet do have to pay the GST, no matter where the live, as it's collected under the Customs Act.
