If is onlly 12 Cent differance US and Canadian dollar, how come in canada we pay 50 cent more a liter ? |
Gas in US $ 2.50 a Gal, In Canada $ 0.90 a liter how dos that make the Canadian Dollar almost the same is the US? $ 1.00 US = $ 1.12 Candian, dont make sence ? Gas taxes are higher in Canada... there's the federal excise tax of 10 cents/litre, GST of 6%, and the provincial gas tax varies from province to province. In Ontario it's 14.7 cents/litre. Because the US isn't big on environmental taxation? The price of gas in Canada has nothing to do with the exchange rate. While it is true, we are one of the largest holder of oil reserves in the world, we do not possess the refining capacity of the U.S. and thus our costs to have refined are higher.Plus, you must remember that 1 U.S. gallon is only 4/5ths of the old Imperial gallon and our metric system goes on our old imperial system and not the equivalent in the U.S. General Knowledge. Environmental taxes is combination with fewer subsidies. |
