Another tax on oil companies by libs? |
I heard the other day that some senator is proposing anothe tax on oil companys for their big profits, does anyone out their think that the oil companys wont pass that tax on to us in return we will have higher fuel prices I know their is at least 60 or 70 cents worth of tax per gallon of gas now why dont some senator propse to eliminate it The oil industry will become the Democrat's whipping boy. Count on it. Hilliary has already stated that she wants to add whopping new taxes on the oil industries "obscene profits". Who will pay for this? Why you, the consumer, of course. To a corporation taxes are simply another cost just like any other. The oil company is a pass through with respect to taxes. Any new taxes will be factored into the price of the product. You'll pay for it. But, at least this will serve the Democrats well - they'll have more money to spend and be able to demonize the oil companies for raising prices to the beleaguered consumer who will get fleeced and think it is all the oil industries fault. Beautiful! Exxon/Mobil just reported a 9 BILLION profit for the first quarter of 2007. Every other major producer from BP to Shell to you name 'em reported decreases in profit for the same period. I would call 9 BILLION obscene, too. I don't think your question has any good answer. Gasoline has surpassed beer as our national drink. |
