Has anyone else heard that the Hershey candy company is. . . . . . .? |
outsourcing to China and that they have already closed three major plants in the U.S.? What do you think? It sounds like outsourcing to me. "At the heart of the job cuts in Hershey 鈥?900 total at three hometown plants 鈥?is a shift in production to developing countries where the company hopes to capitalize on cheaper labor and materials and sell more candy to booming populations of young people." "Few shareholders questioned the wisdom of the company's overseas ventures, but many wondered why it has to cut back in Hershey and whether the quality of candy produced elsewhere will slide." "'Why should you pay for cheaper labor down there and sell candy bars for the same price up here?' Charles Gensemer, 49, said in an interview before the meeting." "Roger Brandt, 74, told Lenny that, even in the Depression, 'Milton Hershey never had to lay people off.'" http://local.lancasteronline.com/4/20298... Source(s): http://local.lancasteronline.com/4/20298... some people will believe anything candy they make in other countries is made for consumption in those parts of the world unlike GM, Ford, Chrysler that make lots of cars in Mexico while Toyota and Honda make lots of cars and trucks in the U.S. |
